About Us
During a time of loss, you need the help of compassionate experts who can offer guidance and support throughout the planning process. At Bell Mortuary and Crematory, we believe that every life deserves to be celebrated. Our mission is to assist families in creating personalized funeral experiences that honor the life of their loved ones.
For many years, we have served our community by providing healing and meaningful funeral and memorial services that honor life and meet the needs of those who grieve. Our hope is that from the moment you walk through our doors, you feel welcomed, respected, and heard.
History
Jeff and Lynnette are faithful Christians who have served many families in the Indianapolis area, as well as the New Palestine Community, in their time of need.
Members of the New Palestine Chamber of Commerce, New Palestine Lions Club, New Palestine American Legion Post 182 (Sons of the Legion), Indiana Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association.
Our funeral homes are family-owned and operated businesses. We are a full-service funeral home, offering everything from funeral services with burials to funeral services with cremation. We are large enough to give our families the same service as the largest funeral homes around, yet we are small enough that each family gets the level of attention and care they deserve.
Jeff and Lynnette Bell, along with their three children (two sons, Elijah and Jonah and daughter Addison), own and operate Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Royster-Askin-Sandrock Chapel, and our newest location, Shangrila Chapel.
We are truly family serving families. We take great pride in the work that we do and strive to make every effort possible so that the families we serve feel very comfortable and at ease with the decisions they have made.
Funerals are a reflection of a life that was lived. We want our families to feel like they can express themselves or their loved ones' wishes in the manner that they feel most adequate.
We go to great lengths to make families feel right at home. Death is a very uncomfortable situation to begin with, and we have found that families need to feel at home rather than closed in and awkward.
Jeff and Lynnette Bell purchased their first funeral home, formerly known as Royster-Askin-Sandrock Funeral Home, on the west side of Indianapolis in 1996. They later changed the name to its current one. They have made several updates to this location and have truly come to love the community they serve. Every August, the Bells put on a "Block Party" for the community and give out free hamburgers and hot dogs. This is just one way the Bells give back to the community they love and serve.
In 2008, the Bells fulfilled their dream of serving the people of Hancock and surrounding counties with the opening of their second funeral home, Bell Mortuary & Crematory Shangrila Chapel in Carrollton, Indiana (3 miles east of New Palestine). Jeff, Lynnette, and their children will reside on the funeral home grounds. This living arrangement is unheard of in today's corporate funeral homes, but it underscores the Bells' total commitment to personal service to every family they are privileged to serve.
A native of Madison, IN, Jeff is a 1984 graduate of Madison High School. He went on to become a 1986 graduate of Mid-America College of Funeral Service in Jeffersonville, IN. He married the former Lynnette Swise, who attended New Palestine High School and later graduated from Arsenal Technical High School, Indianapolis. The young couple made their first home in New Palestine, an area they came to love.
The Bells and their children are involved in many civic and community activities.
