Obituary

Wilma J. Smithers, 79, Indianapolis, IN passed away June 15, 2022 in Indianapolis, IN. She was born to Willie Wilburn Henson and Dorothy Kathern Wilson on May 12, 1943 in Scottsville, KY.

Survivors include son, Wayne (Kathy) Smithers; daughters, Darla (Fred) Ballenger and Rachael Rider; sibilings, Joyce Cox, Joan Thomas, Jewel Williams, Kevin & Raymond Henson; grandchildren,Nickole, Tony(Katie), Travis, Fred Jr.(Jessica), Josh(Chelsea), Audrey, Chase-Marie and Casi; great grandchildren, Taylor, Raeanna, Mackenzie, Emily, Logan, Brayden, Connor, Bailey, Wyatt, Jaggar, Johnathon, Tristin, Malú and Jewels and many nieces and nephews who call her Aunt Neen and Aunt Jeanean.

Wilma is proceeded in death by her parents; sisters, Bettie Bland, Mindy Pratt; brothers, Tony Bridges, Brian and Jimmie Henson.


Wilma worked for Rand McNally publishing company in the bindery department for 24 years until the plant closed. She was very proud to be making school books, children's Books, Bible's and maps. She loved to go to yard sales and thrift shopping, she was a collector of many things. She also loved to listen to, Bob Seger, George Jones and Bluegrass.
