William "Jake" Williams Obituary

William "Jake" R. Williams, 79 years old of Greenfield, IN went home to his Lord and Savior on May 26, 2022. Jake was born in Cumberland, IN on April 5, 1943, to Stella (Limbach) and Clancy C. Williams, Sr. Jake is survived by his best friend and beloved wife, Jeanette “Jan” J. (Reynolds) Williams. They were blessed to have 34 wonderful years together and will be reunited in Heaven someday according to God’s will. Jake is also survived by siblings James (Helen, deceased), Mary Cook (Clayton, deceased), Charles (Ruth), Robert (Charlene, deceased), Verda Hall (Phil, deceased), George (Cheryn, deceased), and Dale (Jill) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jake was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Kenneth, Carl, Clancy Jr., Lucile Hey and Alice Overhoff.

He graduated from Warren Central High School where he participated in Future Farmers of America. Jake always loved working with his hands and could build anything. He enjoyed gardening, sharing his cucumbers with loved ones and maintaining a beautiful yard. He loved dogs and watching hummingbirds. In his free time, Jake enjoyed watching cowboy movies and NASCAR racing. He was a lifelong Richard Petty fan.

As a young man, Jake worked for Williams Brothers Sinclair service station and Dick Hunt Construction in Cumberland. In 1972, Jake became the right-hand man to his brother, George, owner of Williams Construction, Charlottesville, IN. They built custom homes all over central Indiana for 20 years. In 1992, they went to work for the Jack K. Elrod Company, Mooresville, IN, that specialized in spectator seating. They traveled the United States installing seating, stages and flooring for events such as the Indy 500, NCAA basketball tournaments and even a soccer stadium in the Dominican Republic. Later they were proud to install the new SAFER Barriers at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and numerous racetracks for NASCAR. In 2005, Jake retired after working with his brother for 33 years.

Jake chose to be baptized in 2005 at Eastview Christian Church, Martinsville, IN. He enjoyed attending Brandywine Community Church, Greenfield. He loved listening to the Gaithers gospel singing and watching Dr. Charles Stanley each week next to his wife with his dog, Sam, on his lap.

Please join us in celebrating the life of this wonderful man on Saturday, June 18, 2022. The service led by Pastor Mark Wright will begin at 11:30 am at Brandywine Community Church, 1551 E.
