Robert James Strange, an educated doctor and father of four, passed away at the age of 82 on Wednesday, January 26th, 2022 at Golden Living Center-Brookview in Indianapolis, IN On March 16th, 1939, he was born to Rosella (Vezina) and James Strange on the Minnesota Chippewa Reservation in Cass Lake, Minnesota. He moved with his family to Cheyenne,
Wyoming where he attended Cheyenne Senior High. Once there, he discovered his lifelong passion for wrestling and became an accomplished wrestler. After graduation, he
attended college at the University of Colorado-Boulder where he wrestled on a scholarship. He excelled in his studies and earned a degree in chemical engineering.
Afterwards, he earned his PhD at the University of Minnesota in organic chemistry in 1974 and an MD in 1975. He started his own medical practice in Central City, Nebraska before
moving to Iowa and continuing his studies. He received his PharmD from the University of Iowa in 1999. He worked as a pharmacist until his retirement in 2008. He was very
proud of his accomplishments and strived to contribute something to the world through his research. Bob is survived by 4 children; Rachel Strang of Iowa City, IA, Robert D. Strang of Iowa
City, IA, Timothy (Patrice) Strange of Hawi, HI, and James (Wendy) Strange of Lincoln, NE; 8 grandchildren; and his brother Kurtis Strange. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Loretta (Strange) Roedocker. He lived a complicated life that took many detours. In his free time, enjoyed watching old movies and sports, reading about history, and spending time with his family. He maintained a strong passion for wrestling until his passing and watched many meets at the University of Iowa. He was a wizard at chess and developed many skills throughout his life. In his younger years, he completed many home improvements and became a skilled woodworker. He will be missed. Bob’s family extends their deepest gratitude to Golden Living Center-Brookview and to his

A service will be held in remembrance of him on Monday, February 21 st at 11:00 am at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City. The service will be officiated by Pastor Brent Hartwig.
