Mike Baugh

Ralph Michael “Mike” Baugh, 62, New Palestine, passed away peacefully on November 18th, 2023 in Indianapolis. Mike was born in Rushville, IN on October 2nd, 1961 to Ralph Baugh and Joanne (Binder) Baugh.

He graduated from New Palestine HS in 1980.  He started working early and was “that kid” who mowed yards and had a bunch of paper routes at a young age. He spent 35 years working in retail and distribution. 

He was a past member of the NP Lions Club, holding various positions throughout the years.  He especially enjoyed trips to Mexico with the Starkey Hearing Foundation where he helped provide hearing aids to those in need.

He was an avid sports fan and considered the New Palestine Dragons and the Purdue Boilermakers to be his favorites.  He was always up to challenging anyone to a good game of cards.  He loved spending time with his family, and was lovingly referred to as “Uncle Mikey” by his nieces and nephews.

His greatest sense of accomplishment and passion came from volunteering for the New Palestine Dragons Athletic Department for 35 years, retiring in 2018.  If there was a football game going on at any of the New Pal schools, Mike was there at least an hour early and ready to do his part.  He was proud to receive the Fan Appreciation Award in 2007.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ralph Baugh. He is survived by his mother, Joanne Baugh and his sisters Terri (Terry Sprinkle) Haynes and Kristy (Ryan) Willhelm, nieces Kailey (Andrew) Heighway and Cassidy Willhelm, nephews Kyle (Nikki) Willhelm and Dion Sprinkle-Bouchard as well as great nieces (Emerson, Lottie & Annalyn) and great nephews (Jayden & River).

Service will be on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 1:00pm at Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Shangrila Chapel, 1444 West US Hwy 52, Fountaintown, IN  46130 with visitation from 11:00am until the time of service at the mortuary. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery, Arlington, IN.
