Michael (Mick) Devito Obituary

Michael (Mick) Lee Devito, age 87, of New Palestine, IN, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Hancock Regional Hospital, Greenfield, IN.

Born January 24, 1936, in Richmond, IN to Michael DeVito and Mary Grace Senese DeVito, and he lived most of his life in Wayne County.

Mick was a 1954 graduate of Richmond High School and served his country in the United States Airforce from 1955 to 1963. Mick retired from Alcoa after 30 years as a Maintenance Supervisor and then worked for Petro Fueling Stations as a Maintenance Supervisor for another 10 years. Mick fiercely loved his family and enjoyed life, lighting up a room with his humor. He was a faithful friend, with many being lifelong friends from his high school days, and always willing to help and do whatever work was necessary. He relished being on the golf course with his family and friends. Mick was a faithful Cleveland Browns fan and was still looking forward to their victory season. Mick was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to those who were blessed to call him by those titles. Further, he was genuinely fond of animals, often sneaking them treats, and could not fathom how someone could treat them cruelly.

His family expresses their appreciation to the Suburban Hospice and Hancock Regional nurses and physicians for their generosity and support throughout the past year.

Mick is survived by his wife: Barbara K. Ripberger Devito; four daughters: Amy Haustetter (Jon) of Indianapolis, IN; Rachel Devito (dog Cocoa) of Indianapolis, IN; Melinda Jones (John) of Beech Grove, IN; and Melissa Roddy (Tom) of New Palestine, IN; Grandchildren: Eric Haustetter (Erin Kiesel and Children) of Indianapolis, IN; John Jones III (Brittany) of Alanson, MI; Paige Haustetter of Beech Grove, IN; Destiny Jones of Indianapolis, IN; Hannah Jones of Beech Grove, IN; Abigail Roddy of Indianapolis, IN; Austin Roddy (Leah Collins) of New Palestine, IN; nephew, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, stepfather Richard Kelley, brother Frank DeVito, two nephews Vincent DeVito, Steven DeVito, and one niece Theresa DeVito.
