Mary Lee Griffin was a devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She left this world on December 15, 2021 at age 91 surrounded by her family.
She was the 5th child of Irene & Orlando Harvey, born on October 31, 1930 in Dale, Indiana. Mary Lee went to Arsenal Tech High School and Howe High School in Indianapolis. She retired at age 76 from Fishers Digestive Care, having spent most of her career working for various medical offices. Mary Lee loved spending time reading, painting, making jewelry and doing glass art. She loved her family so very much, supporting all their endeavors from Soccer mom to helping backstage in theater productions. She loved hearing about all the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Mary Lee was a fierce competitor when it came to playing cards (and may have cheated a time or two).
Mary Lee was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Robert Griffin, whom she met at a Spoon Dance in Indianapolis. They loved to dance! She was also preceded by her parents, her siblings: Jeanette Viehe, Cora Thomas, Vivian Jones and William Harvey; her daughter-in-law Karen Davidson and her son-in-law Bill Painter. She is survived by her sons John Davidson and Robert Griffin, daughter-in-law Jenni Griffin, daughters Cindy Painter and Shelly Griffin, and her boyfriend Kyle Holland. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life will be held at Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Shangrila Chapel, 1444 W. US Hwy 52, Fountaintown, Indiana on Monday, December 27, 2021, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm.
