James V. Gilmore

 James V. Gilmore, 71 of Indianapolis, IN passed peacefully on September 13, 2023 at AMG Specialty Hospital in Greenfield, IN.  His wife, Lisa, cousin, Kristi Cornett and his brother, Tom were by his side when he passed.  He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Gilmore, mother,  Jeanne (Rohyans) Gilmore and his sister, Peggie Dolan.

   Jim graduated from Roncalli High School in 1970 and entered the Air Force where he became an airplane mechanic.  After his military service, he worked and retired from FedEx after 18 years.  In his retirement years Jim’s mission was to help veterans acquire their military benefits.

   Jim met his wife, Lisa in Thailand where they lived for many years before returning to Indianapolis and residing on the South Side.  Jim loved Thailand, the Thai people, Thai food, but most of all Lisa. Together they traveled all over the world.

Jim was recently introduced to the Gospel of Christ where he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior.

   Jim is survived by his wife, Lisa, brother Tom (Kathy) Gilmore, brother in law, Tom Dolan, several cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, Jim requested donations be made to the American Heart Association.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Shangrila Chapel, 1444 W.  US 52, Fountaintown, IN 46130 on Monday, September 25 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm followed by a Christian service and then a military tribute by the Greenfield Honor Guard. Officiating will be Pastor John Reading.
