Dorothy Ellen (Bailey) Kolvet

Dorothy Ellen (Bailey) Kolvet, 87, of Plainfield was called home on Thursday, September 24, 2020. Daughter of Green & Roxie Bailey in Handshoe, Kentucky. Dorothy is survived by her son Bradford Kolvet, daughter Mary Ellen (Mike) Hammack, granddaughters Brittany Hutchings, Krystal & Katie Kolvet, grandsons Bobby & Benjamyn Hammack, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by husband Robert F. Kolvet, daughter Roxanne Hutchings, son Robert Kolvet, Jr., both parents and all her siblings.

Widowed at 37-years old with four kids to raise, our mom worked many jobs ranging from restoring antiques to waiting tables at restaurants such as John’s Famous Stew in Speedway and Ryan’s Family Steakhouse. She enjoyed watching the Colts and playing along with Jeopardy! Words used to describe our mother include loving, beautiful, kind, generous, smart, and brave. She was a very special lady who brightened the life of every person she met. As our family matriarch, it was both a blessing and an honor to have known her. We look forward to when we can once again be reunited. Until then, we will take solace knowing mom is in Heaven catching-up with everyone over endless games of Rook.

A public graveside service will be held to inter her cremains in West Ridge Park Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life ceremony once we can all come together safely (post-COVID).
