Carl L. Hurst

Carl L. Hurst, 84, of Fairland, passed away August 28, 2021 in Shelbyville, IN. He was born on December 27, 1936 in Strangers Home, Arkansas to the late Floyd D. and Loma Rosa Josephine Hurst.

Survivors include; sons, Kenny R. (Mary Jean) Hurst and Roger C. (Beth) Hurst; daughter, Karen L. (Jim Garland) Flanary; sisters, Barbara Cox, Geraldine (Harold) Baker and Janice Hurst; brother, Glen (Betty) Hurst; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife of 62 years, Glenna Verlene (Shirley) Hurst; parents; sisters, Pauline Hurst, Waldine Flanigan, Maxine Short; brothers, Carroll Jean Hurst, Estelle Hurst; son-in-law, Bill Flanary; granddaughter, Kari Flanary; 4 great grandchildren.

Carl retired from Ford Motor Company after 38 years of service at the age of 59. He was a member of Shelbyville Church of Christ, Shelbyville, IN where he especially loved to sing church hymns. 

Funeral Services will be on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 1:00pm at Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Shangrila Chapel, 1444 West US Hwy 52, Fountaintown, IN  46130 with Rev. Danny Thomas Officiating.  Visitation will be on Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 11:00am until time of the service at the mortuary. Burial will be in Fairland Cemetery, Fairland, IN.
