Benjamin Dotts Obituary

Benjamin “Ben” Michael Dotts, 20, Coal City, Indiana passed away on January 22, 2023 in Coal City, Indiana.  He was born on February 27, 2002 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Benjamin is survived by his brothers, Clayton (Lacy) Cordell, Daniel (Ashley) Dotts, David (Christine Smith) Dotts, Jacob Dotts; sisters Racheal (Roberts) Davis, Leah Cordell, Elisha (Monte “Tonte”) Winters, Danielle (Jason) Stamper, uncles Jack Dotts Jr and Ronald  (Janet ) Bishop, 20 nieces and nephews and 7 great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Rebecca “Becky” Ann (Bishop)  Dotts  and Dale Edward Dotts, brother Dale E. Dotts, II; grandparents William Bishop, Jr, Ann Bishop, Jack Dotts and Gloria Dotts and  niece Anna M. Adams.

Ben lit up any room he entered. He loved his family.  More than anything else, he loved giving praise to Jesus. Ben put everyone to shame when he worshipped because he did so with his whole heart.  While he’s no longer here on Earth, he is now out-worshipping all the angels in heaven. While he was here, though, he was his family’s angel, and he had so many personal experiences with them. For example, he enjoyed going to “Tonte’s” house.  When his sister Elisha would argue that it was her house, too, Benjamin would say, “No sissy, it’s Tonte’s house.” He loved sissy Leah’s house, too, and she gave him the nickname “Huckleberry.” Ben loved playing video games with David and telling him to make him bacon and eggs or telling him to go to town for his snacks and drinks. He loved watching shows with Danielle who introduced him to Scooby-Doo and Shaggy.  If you knew Ben, you know how much he loved Scooby and Shaggy. Ben loved to clap and dance to Daniel jamming on the guitar.  He enjoyed going to Clayton and Lacy’s house for family get-togethers. He wrestled and swam with Jacob. In fact, swimming was his passion. If there was water, Ben would be in it. Benjamin and his nephew Joseph enjoyed an especially close bond. They played together all the time.  Joseph doesn’t call Benjamin “uncle;” rather, he calls him “brother” because that’s what Benjamin was to Joseph. Ben loved Scooby-Doo, Ghostbusters, The Hulk, Batman and Spider-man. He also loved to play video games.  Dave and Busters was his favorite destination. Ben loved to visit Indianapolis on the weekends where staying in a hotel was such a treat. Benjamin was great at giving nicknames, too, just like his sissy Leah. He’ll be remembered for so many famous quotes, including “Prove It,” “Yiiiikes,” and “Ruh Roh” (from Scooby-Doo), “Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters!” (from the movie of the same name), “Sissy more,” “Tonte more,” “Hit it boys!” “Boo, hide it!” and “Come on, Joseph.” He loved all of his siblings, nieces and nephews so much, but he loved his mom, dad, and Joseph the most. The world did not deserve Benjamin (aka Huckleberry/Benny Mon) Dotts. His smile was priceless and his love knew no bounds.
