William "Bill" H. Short, 88, passed away on September 15, 2026 in New Palestine, Indiana. He was born on March 26, 1938 in New Palestine, Indiana.
Bill attended New Palestine High School and went on later to work as a manager at Crates and Pallets for 30 years. He was also a life long member and Deacon of Sugar Creek Baptist Church, where his faith was an important part of his life.
He will be remembered for the joy he found in simple and meaningful things. Those who knew him will remember his warmth, his steady presence, and the way he brought people together through conversation, faith, and love.
Bill is survived by his children, Billy (Denise) Short, John (Tammy) Short, and Diana (Mike) Oberneder; and by his sister, Donna Maupin. He also will be missed dearly by his 3 grandchildren Olivia, Grant and Brittany as well as his 6 great grandchildren. His family was a cherished part of his life, and he took great happiness in the time he shared with them and with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Betty Short ; his parents, John W. Short and Easter Jeanette Short; his brothers, Donald Short, Richard Short, and Arthur Short; and his brother-in-law, Dick Maupin.
