William J Cooper

October 20, 1953 — August 1, 2014

William J. Cooper passed away peacefully, August 1 st , 2014.  He was an incredible artist, selling his art work in Europe for several years.  In later life he became a phlebotomist at Brighton-Sussex University Hospital in Brighton, England.  Bill and Torstein Degnes, his husband and partner of 30 + years, made the trip from Brighton, England to Brooklyn Harbor, NY on the Queen Mary 2 on Monday, July 28, 2014.  They were met by Bill’s loving sister and her husband, Teresa and Dennis, and driven straight to the Indianapolis area where he was admitted to Methodist Hospital.  He will be forever missed by his loving partner, Torstein, mother Lillian Cooper, sisters Annette Danielson, Stephanie (Jim) Jones, Teresa (Dennis) McKamey, Donna Paxton, and Jill Cooper, brothers Dan (Kay), James and Michael Cooper and Eric Hickman (Ann)  He had many nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunts.  He was preceded in death by his father, James Cooper, sisters Suzanne Hickman, MaryAnne Thomas, niece Jessie Williamson and nephews Jason Cooper and Wylie Scotten.  He will be forever missed for his humor and his art, and always cherished in our hearts.  Services will be August 9 th and are private.  If you wish to make a memorial donation please consider Herron School of Art at I.U.P.U.I. or the Halsted Ctr ., 3656 N.
