William Norman Coe

Indianapolis

William Norman Coe , 88, of Indianapolis passed away on September 12, 2019. He was the son of Tim Edward and Martha Mae Coe. He grew up with 3 siblings (5 total), Donald, Lucille, and Kathleen. William was raised on a farm in Turkey Neck Bend, Monroe County, Kentucky. He graduated from Tompkinsville High School in 1950.

He was drafted into the military where he served as a butcher in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951-1953. After leaving the military, William worked in Kentucky doing highway construction. In 1976, William moved to Indianapolis were he started his own roofing business. Many got to know William as Bill, Norman, and Joe Coe. William had 5 children, William “Billy” Lee Coe, Joseph Edward “Eddie” Coe, Mary Kathleen Johnson (Coe), Norman Anthony Coe, and Elizabeth Anne Coe.

William had 6 grandchildren (7 total), Brandy Hinojosa, Samanthia Johnson, Terri Johnson, William Edward Coe, Audrey Lynn Coe, and Lylah Irene Coe.

His great grandchildren include Brandon Hinojosa, Bree Hinojosa, and Carson Johnson.

William was proceeded in death by his parents Tim and Martha Coe, his wife Lucy Lee (Abney) Coe, siblings James Carmen Coe, Barbara Ann Coe, Donald Ervin Coe, grandson William Bradford Coe, best friend Clarence Henson, and long time partner Ellen Margaret McClelland. Much appreciation goes to James Pellam.

Services will be held Friday, September 20, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Royster-Askin-Sandrock Chapel, 2310 West Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46222. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at the mortuary. Officiating will be Pastor Terry Howard.
