Thelma "Jean" Curtis Everton, 73

"Jean" Everton went home to be with or Lord on March 26, 2016 at her home.  Jean was born in Tompkinsville, Kentucky and graduated high school there.  She and her family relocated to Indianapolis, where Jean thrived as a server in various establishments.  She was the go-to person for good stories and great jokes and loved being around people.  Jean loved games, especially chess and card games.

Jean and her husband served as Trustees for Teamsters Local #135, where they visited weekly and organized bus trips and card tournaments.  She proudly served later as Manager of the Eagle Valley Candy Shop for several years.

Preceding Jean in death are an infant son, Mother Lena Crawford Curtis Wreith, Brother Barlow Curtis, and Husband of 34 years Richard Everton.  Survivors include son Kenny Garrett, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Bell Mortuary, 2310 W. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN on Saturday, April 2, 2016 from 1 pm to 3 pm with a memorial beginning at 3 pm.

Loving unlovable animals was a cause close to Jean's heart.  In remembrance of this, memorial contributions may be made to the Indianapolis Humane Society http://indyhumane.org.
