Susan Elaine (Wellman) Webster

September 19, 1947 — December 19, 2024

Greenfield

Susan Elaine (Wellman) Webster, 77, Greenfield, IN passed away on December 19, 2024, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield, IN surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 19, 1947, in Indianapolis, IN.

Sue or Suzy as she was lovingly known by to family and friends, worked for RCA in Indianapolis, IN. for 27 years. During which time she made her way up to the Inventory Supervisor position and in doing so meant she got to travel places for work. She flew to places like New York and South Carolina to lend her expertise. Working for RCA also gave her the opportunity to attend many of their artists’ live performances and the privilege of meeting quite a few as well. She got to meet artists such as Ronnie Milsap, Kenny Rogers, and The Judds. She was even supposed to meet Elvis after his last performance at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, IN, however he had to cancel due to feeling unwell. Needless to say, she had a lot of rare opportunities in her years working for them…until they downsized and let her go. Sue took it all in stride though. She took her severance pay, went out and bought her a brand-new Ford Explorer, which she was so proud of, and went and got herself a job at her favorite fast-food place, White Castle, where she worked until she retired.

At home, she was most certainly surrounded by her loving family, from her parents, siblings, nieces/nephews, children, and eventually even her grands and great grand Children. Family was everything to her. Her house was the place to gather and gather they did. She loved it though, a lot of life, laughs, and good times were had right in her living room. As empty nesters, she and her sisters even had sisters’ nights where they would wear matching pjs and have sleepovers. They even did scrapbooking and card making together for a while. Her family and friends will always remember her being a great cook, that she could sew just about anything, “Sewin Sue Webster” they called her, not to mention crocheting, she could even rub a baby’s head perfectly round! lol She was a woman of many talents who was also filled with kindness and generosity. She was always there to help anyone, even if it meant she would do without. You do not for a minute mistake her kindness as weakness though. She was a very strong woman, very stubborn and set in her ways. She liked what she liked, and she didn’t what she didn’t.  She could get a little sassy if you pushed her, but most of the time her sass was just her way of being funny, she did love to have a good laugh. Like how she enjoyed scaring her grandkids at Halloween and then spoiling them the rest of the year. On her down time, she loved to go to the movies or even watch them at home, she also loved reading her romance novels, doing wordbooks, and babysitting her grandchildren/great grandchildren, she always kept herself busy. In later years, she was a night owl, that loved her Coca-Cola and sitting out on the front porch, in the evening, reading, talking with her neighbors and/or picking weeds and feeding the wild rabbits, but most of all she still loved just being around her family.

Sue is survived by her children; Tony, Paula (Dean), Joe (Shellie), Jimmy (Ellisa); brothers Freddy (Teddy) Wellman, Dave (Shirley) Wellman, Scott Wellman; sisters, Patty (Jim) Schumacher, Sylvia (Bill) Schofield, Robbie (Terry) Goode, Lori Gregory; grandchildren, Alisha, Zach (Maddie), Gavin, Garrett, Lindsay (Dan), Charles (Karri), Jonathon (Amber), Cody, Andrew (Alyssa), Payden (Addy), Colin (Maggie), Troy; great grandchildren, Kaylie, Forrest, Gavin, Owen, Jeremiah, Charleigh, Kayla, Braylon, Mason, Lanore, Lucy, Luna, Lilly, Lincoln, Bella, Hunter, Gideon, and Paisley.

She is preceded in death by, her husband Jim Webster Sr.; parents, Fred & Mary Wellman; grandparents, Dora Wellman, Harry & Emma Schmidt; sister Marsha Brown
