Sondra Jean Powell-Smith

Sondra Jean Powell‑Smith, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, passed away surrounded by family on January 10, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on May 18, 1962, Sondra lived a life defined by strength, compassion, and an unwavering devotion to the people she loved. Her kindness touched countless lives, and her influence will continue to echo through generations.

Sondra leaves behind her devoted husband, Joseph Smith, and her cherished son, George Powell III. She was a proud grandmother to Brooklynn Spears, Ashlei Madsen, Zoey Herring, Chris Howard, George Powell IV, Travis Burdine, Lacey Powell, and Scarlett Powell, as well as a loving great‑grandmother to two great‑grandchildren. The children in her life brought her immense joy.

She is also survived by her brother, Jerry (Hope) Stickels; her sisters, Janet (Don) Raymond; Donna Barnes; and Rosemary Amormino. Sondra's family extends far beyond blood-she helped mold countless lives with her guidance, warmth, and open heart.

Sondra was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Bertie Stickels; her son, Dennis Powell; and her brother, Garry Stickels. Though she has reunited with them, her absence leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who remain.

Sondra will be remembered for her generosity, her spirited resilience, and the way she lit up every room she entered. Her legacy lives on in the family she adored and in all the lives shaped by her love.

May she rest in peace, forever cherished and never forgotten.
