Robert Glen Amory

Robert Glen Amory, 73, passed away on September 3, 2026, in Greenfield, Indiana. He was born on July 27, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois.

Robert lived a life shaped by hard work, service, and a wide range of interests and talents. He earned his high school diploma, pursued college studies, and continued learning through many varied interest courses. His career included work with Community Health Network, Duke, and Brebeuf High School, where he brought dedication and skill to those he served.

He also served his country with honor in the United States Navy from 1971 to 1975, receiving an honorable discharge. During his military service, Robert worked maintenance aboard the U.S.S. Shenendoah, a role that reflected the practical ability and steady commitment that marked so much of his life.

Robert was a man of many pursuits. He enjoyed woodworking, crafts, metal work, plants and gardening.  He took great pride in his yard. He also valued physical fitness and found pleasure in fishing and hunting. He was known as well for being careful with money, a trait his sister Georgeanne once captured with affection when she said, “he’s the only one I know who can make a nickel cry.” Among his proud accomplishments were earning his real estate license and receiving various other accolades.

Above all, Robert will be remembered by those who knew and loved him best. He is survived by his wife, Karri Amory; his daughter Breana (James) Mockerman; his son, Ian Amory; his brother Richard (Joy) Shaffer; and his sister, Cindy Thygerson. He also leaves behind four grandchildren who loved him dearly.  May his memory remain a source of strength, gratitude, and love to his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elaine and George Amory; his son, Bryan Glen Amory; his sister, Georgeanne McCord; his brother-in-law, Tom Thygerson; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wayne and Judy Wheeler.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Shangrila Chapel, 1444 US-52, Fountaintown, Indiana 46130. A memorial service officiated by Rev. Danny Thomas will follow there at 5:00 pm

Robert’s life was one of service and deep personal pride in the things he built, maintained, and cared for. He leaves behind the enduring memory of a man who worked faithfully, loved his family, and found meaning in both craftsmanship and the everyday blessings of life.
