Richard Smith

d. November 11, 2024

Richard Dwight Smith , age 77, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2024. Richard was a devoted servant of the Lord, dedicating his life to the ministry through teaching, educating, singing, acting, and countless acts of kindness. He strove to be a beacon of light for God, touching many lives with his heartfelt birthday videos, ensuring everyone felt loved on their special day—family, friends, and even strangers. Richard’s infectious smile and laughter were a testament to his belief that “Laughter is the best medicine.” He loved worship music and singing, one of his favorite memories was singing in the choir during worship. His voice would fill the room, lifting spirits and worshiping God. He often said that music was his way of sharing his faith and joy with others. He enjoyed playing Wally-Ball at the Y and volleyball at church. When he was physically unable to play, he organized and ran volleyball games for adults at church. He was preceded in passing by his beloved wife, Sharon Marie Gligora-Smith, who passed in 1986, his parents Allen and Carol Smith, and his brothers Jonathan and Phillip Smith. He is survived by his sons, Shaun (Gabriel) Smith, Michael Smith (Danette Harmon), and Jason (Tracy) Smith, along with his siblings, Eric (Ann) Smith, Sylvia (Bill) Shepler, Louise (Dennis) Twigg, Becky {William} Vreeland and Sarah (Mark) Yoder, and their respective families.
