Richard "Dick" Everton 86 passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 17, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jean Thelma Everton and one adopted son, Kenny Garrett, 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmie Everton, his daughter Peggy Vories, and son Richard W. Everton. Richard attended George Washington High School, and was among 80% of the men in his class who was enlisted to serve in WWII. Richard served proudly in the United States Marines and upon returning home began a lifelong career as a over-the-road truck driver, retiring from TransCon lines in 1989. An avid Teamster, Richard enjoyed weekly visits with his friends at the local Union Hall #135, where he and his wife served as trustees and helped to organize bus trips and card games. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, loved Lawrence Welk, John Wayne, milk, and Church's Chicken. Visitation will be held at Bell Mortuary, 2310 West Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN on Friday, April 23rd from 1pm to 3pm with memorial services immediately following at 3pm. Memorial contributions may made to the Indiana Alzheimer's Association at http://www.alz.org/indiana.
