Richard "Rick" Lee Overman

Richard Rick Lee Overman, 65, of North Webster, passed away on December 22, 2010, in the Methodist Hospital Yellow Rose Hospice in Indianapolis, after a six-month battle with complications of cancer. He was born to the late Lee and Evadean Taylor Overman on July 11, 1945, in Peru, Indiana. He married Toni Walters on June 10, 1972, and she survives. He was a 1963 graduate of Eastern High School, Greentown, Indiana, and a 1968 graduate of Purdue University School of Engineering. He was employed as an engineer for forty years by Delco Remy Division of General Motors in Anderson and by Delphi Corporation in both Indianapolis and Kokomo. He was an avid and enthusiastic volunteer. He was a member of the North Webster United Methodist Church and had been active and served in many positions in the United Methodist Church and the Christian Church. He was a member of the Purdue Chapter of Triangle Fraternity and worked with the Purdue Chapter as an alumnus for many years and also served on the Triangle National Council. In 2007 he was named one of a hundred outstanding Triangle Men of the Century. He was a member and served as president of the Anderson Community School Foundation, and he supported his sons as an active volunteer in the Anderson Highland High School Band Boosters. He was the chairman of the Executive Committee of the Epworth Forest Property Owners' Association. He is also survived by two sons, Dr. Ryan Kelli Overman, Carmel, and Evan Christi Overman, Warsaw; two grandsons, Julian Brian Overman, Carmel, and Ian Taylor Overman, Warsaw; mother-in-law, Marjorie Walters, Kokomo; sister, Sue Bruce Baebler, St. Louis; brother-in-law, John Lynne Walters, Chesterfield, Missouri; niece, Dr. Megan Baebler; three nephews, Brad Baebler, Tyler Walters, and Bradley Walters. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Ronald Lynn Overman; and father-in-law, Leon Walters. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 2, at North Webster United Methodist Church, with visitation at 1 p.m. and following the service.
