Richard Lee

Richard Lee , 77, Danville, Indiana passed away on March 1, 2023 in Danville, Indiana.  He was born on July 2, 1945 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

He is survived by his daughter Dawn (Lee) Mulkey and granddaughters  Maya Martinez and Sophia Martinez.  He is also survived by three cousins.

Richard is preceded in death by his wife Mary (Hoskins) Lee; mother Emma Jean Neligh; father William F. Lee; grandmother Grace Neligh and grandfather Allison Neligh.

Richard was trained at ITT as an Electronics Engineer Technician.  He retired in 2012 after 36 years of working at Dayton Appliance Parts (formerly Appliance Parts Inc). Richard served our country in the US Army, Artillery 2nd 32nd.  He was a CPL-E4.  He earned the  National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Richard served from October 28, 1965 to June 14, 1967 and was honorably discharged from his service on October 27th, 1971. He was a member of the VVA Chapter 295.  Richard had many interests and hobbies.  He was an amateur astronomer and a train enthusiast also known as a Rail Fan.  Richard loved fishing, Hot Rods and muscle cars.  He owned a 1967 Chevy.  Richard was a Rock & Roll and Country Music fan. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching documentaries about history, myths and legends.

His friends and family remember Richard with a couple of quotes.  Vernon Johnson said "Your Dad was a great guy and we had a lot of great talks. He will be deeply missed."  Gary Morgan  said, "I'm so glad your Dad was a big part of my life.  He taught me so much, not just the physical things such as working on TVs and pools, but his gentle way with people and his kindness to everyone."

Services for Richard will be on Thursday, March 9th at 1 pm at Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Royster -Askin- Sandrock Chapel, 2310 West Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46222 with Visitation  from 11 am until the time of service at the mortuary.  Officiating the service will be Pastor Rick Adkins.
