Richard Thomas “Dick” Nolan , 79, Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2023. Dick was born August 9, 1944, in Schenectady, New York, the son of the late John Patrick and Mary (Dolan) Nolan.
Dick was a 1962 graduate of Bishop-Gibbons High School in Schenectady, NY. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Japan for a year and Bunker Hill AFB in Peru, Indiana. He married Mary Rebecca “Becky” Murphy, January 22, 1967, at the Mohawk E.U.B. Church.
He worked for Eli Lilly and Company and retired from Dow-Elanco. He was a 50-year member of the American Legion, and had served as Greenfield Post 119 Commander. He was also a member of Greenfield 40 & 8 Voyager 1415.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Becky, and his parents. He is survived by brothers, Ray (Gladys) Nolan, Lisle, NY, and Bill Nolan, Rotterdam, NY. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Marilyn Gant, and brother-in-law, Greg (Vera) Murphy. Nieces and Nephews; Douglas (Tonya) Nolan, Sean (Jennifer) Nolan, Christine (John) Stanford, Joann Nolan, Michael Nolan, Ted (Jane) Gant, Jeri (Jimmy) Eaks, Renee (Steve) Duncan, Penny Gant, Kathy (Rick) Beam, David (Pam) Furlong, Tony (Connie) Cross, Robert (Melissa) Hunt, Charles Hunt, Andy (Sarah) Martin, Scott (Olivia) Martin and several great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 12, at 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Bell Mortuary and Crematory, Shangrila Chapel, 1444 US HWY 52, Fountaintown, IN. The Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m., Pastor Dan Koenig officiating; burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Greenfield.
