Ralph Barry Peck

August 26, 1944 — March 27, 2020

Rapid City, Michigan

Ralph Peck , passed Friday, March 27, 2020.  He spent the last several months at the home of his daughter, Cathy, surrounded by family and receiving the kind of amazing care that only loved one can provide.  He was 75.

Ralph was born on August 26, 1944 in Petoskey to Doris and Dayton Peck.  He was raised at "the farm" on Valley Road between Rapid City and Kalkaska and graduated from Rapid City High School in 1962.  Born into a typically large family of the era, Ralph was the youngest of eight.

After high school, Ralph went to work as a mason in the Lansing area, living with and working for his oldest brother Dayton. However, he was never long away from his hometown of Rapid City and soon fell for Cheryl Marois (Rapid City bobcat, class of '64).  After Cheryl's graduation they were wed in June. A year later, and due to a horrible construction accident in Lansing, Ralph and Cheryl made their way back to the very place Ralph grew up and would eventually raise their three children, Rodger, Dayton and Cathy.

Miraculously, Ralph healed and continued in the construction trades and made a career as a licensed residential builder and realtor in northwest Iower Michigan.  Always a friend to anyone he corssed paths with, he will be forever missed and remembered by his many colleagues and customers.

White the last decade had been particularly hard on Ralph, that God, he will be remembered for his energy and love for life.  In his early years, he couldn't be stopped! Family gatherings, parties, hunting, fishing.... working hard and playing even harder.  If you really knew Ralph, you'd agree, the deer in the Rapid City area will sleep better, now.

Ralph was preceded in death by his mother; Doris and father; Dayton, brothers; Jim, Richard (Dick), Vinton and sister; Carol.  Brother in law; Moe Guy (Carol) and sister in laws; Floy (Dayton) and Barbara (Vinton).

He is survived by Cheryl and his children; Rodger, Dayton and Cathy, brother; Dayton, sisters; Verna and June, sisters in laws; Eudora (Jim) and Gretchen (Dick).  Eleven grandchildren, Five great grandchildren and too, many nieces and nephews to mention.  All adored and loved by Ralph.

A Memorial Gathering and Celebration of Life will be held sometime this summer (hopefully on or near the Peck reunion) in the Rapid City area....

Arrangements handled by Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Royster-Askin-Sandrock Chapel, 2310 West Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN  46222.
