Phyllis A. Ringham

July 10, 1928 — January 24, 2025

Indianapolis

Phyllis A. Ringham (Pearson) , 96, of New Albany, IN, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2025 in Indianapolis, Indiana where she and her husband Lester had recently relocated. She was born in Anderson, Indiana on July 10, 1928 to E. Harvey and Juanita (Harter) Pearson.

A life-long member of the Disciples of Christ (Christian) Church, her life centered on family and church-related service.

Phyllis was a skilled secretary and bookkeeper, justifiably proud of her work. She was a creative and prodigious quilter. Based on the number of quilt photos she left behind, she designed and sewed well over a thousand, a majority of them cuddle quilts which she donated to Church and community members. She was a leader in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and 4-H. Her primary efforts were rooted in her capacity as Minister's wife and church leader.

She was a proud graduate of Anderson High School class of 1946. She constantly reminded those who would listen that they won the Indiana State Basketball Championship that year. She stayed in touch with her classmates who shared that fond memory.

She was an avid camper, both tent and RV, traveling with her husband Lester to visit family and friends across the United States. She was a skilled pianist who influenced all three children to love music despite her insistence that they take piano lessons.

Leadership positions included both local and national Christian Women's Fellowship and Contact community outreach program. She was a Life Member of the Disciples of Christ Historical Society.

Phyllis was the oldest member of the Harter/Pearson side of the family and curator of their family history.

Special thanks to the New Albany Central Christian Church family who provided loving support for Phyllis and Lester since 1991.

She is survived by the love of her life, Lester, her husband of 75 and 1/2 years, daughter Paula (Linda Daley), son Allen (Paula D.), sister Joy Chittick, sister-in-law Jean Thompson, 2 grandsons, 2 great-granddaughters, many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by daughter Daunita Ringham and her parents, Harvey and Juanita Pearson.
