Patricia Joan (Gerber) Whittaker

Patricia (Gerber) Whittaker , 76, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at her home in Greenfield, Indiana. She was born August 12, 1939, in Mt. Vernon, Ohio to Lou and Helga Gerber. She graduated from Mt. Vernon High School, received her BS in Education from Muskingum College (Ohio) and met her soon to be husband Emil. Pat received her MA from Indiana State University. Eventually Pat and Emil settled in Washington, IN where she taught 5th grade at Veale Elementary School and raised three children. She was an active member of Westminister Presbyterian Church. Pat and her husband spent their spare time entertaining friends and playing Bridge.After 35 years of teaching she retired in 1997 and moved with her husband to North Myrtle Beach, SC, where they belonged to the King of Glory Lutheran Church. Pat and Emil were married for 43 years and enjoyed their retirement living on the beach. She continued her passion of working with children by volunteering at Ocean Drive Elementary School.

Left to honor and remember her love are sons, Wade Whittaker of Myrtle Beach, SC and Brock Whittaker of Charlotte, NC; daughter Wendy Hehmann of New Palestine; grandchildren, Luke and Noah of Myrtle Beach; Taylor, Lindsey, Bridget, Jack and Brock of New Palestine.

A private family service is being held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Bell Mortuary and Crematory, Shangrila Chapel, Fountaintown.
