Olando Latanio Simmons 46, born on July 11, 1980, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, departed this life on July 26, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Those who were blessed to know Olando will remember him as a radiant presence, whose laughter and spirit could brighten even the darkest day.

Olando was the beloved son of Carzell Carter Sr. and Debra Carter. He carried with him a warmth and humor that endeared him to all, embodying the love and vitality of his family roots. Olando is survived by his sons DaMareae Ivy-Simmons and Treyvon Ramzy; his daughters Deaira Robertson, Emani Dotson, and Aaliyah Glasser; his grandson James Jackson; his brothers Marco Simmons, Carzell Carter, Jr., and George Carter; and his cherished parents Carzell Carter Sr. and Debra Carter. His memory is also held in the hearts of those who have gone before him: his grandparents, Daddy George, Lucille Carter, William B. Simmons, and Gracy Simmons.

Olando’s educational journey led him to Arlington High School, where he formed lifelong bonds and further nurtured his compassionate, comedic nature. Throughout his life, Olando was known for his infectious smile, contagious laughter, and exceptional ability to make those around him laugh with a well-timed joke. He found joy in comedy, dancing, and singing, always striving to bring happiness and light into the lives of his family and friends. Olando often referred to himself in the third person, adding a special flair to his conversations—a quirk that friends and relatives recall fondly, especially during times of celebration and laughter.

Described by those closest to him as a bright light in every room and a loving son, devoted brother, and loyal friend, Olando embraced life fully and loved deeply. His generosity of spirit was complemented by a one-of-a-kind personality. He lived freely and spread joy wheresoever he went. His positive energy and love for others will remain as a lasting legacy, cherished by all whose lives he touched.

A favorite phrase of his, often recalled by his family, was: "Don't do that, Lando don't like that." This simple expression embodies the humor, authenticity, and loving boundaries he maintained throughout his life—a constant reminder of the unique character Olando brought to every relationship and occasion.

Olando’s memory will be honored during a visitation on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Church of The Living God, 4602 N Emerson Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46226 with Pastor Jeffery Richards officiating. The funeral service will follow at the same location from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm. He will be laid to rest at Sutherland Park Cemetery, 4045 Meadows Pkwy, Indianapolis, IN 46205, at 2:00 pm that afternoon.

As his family, friends, and loved ones gather to bid farewell, they celebrate a life filled with joy, laughter, and boundless love. Olando Latanio Simmons’s presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever echo in the hearts and memories of all who knew him.
