Nedra Margaret (Seagrave) Abbott, born March 11,1920 in Kokomo, Indiana to the late
Arthur and Mabelle (Fisher) Seagrave, was celebrated Home August 28,2012. Nedra
graduated from Kokomo High School and married Charles Robert Abbott in 1938. They
were married for 49 years. Nedra was preceded hi death by her husband, brother Marvin,
twin brother Ned and granddaughter Amy Timmons. After residing most of her life in
Huntington, Indiana, she moved to Morristown Manor, Morristown, Indiana in 2009.
Nedra is survived by her daughters Anita (James) Timmons of St. Simon Island, Georgia,
Judith (Chuck) Bryan of New Palestine, Indiana, and Jean (Tom) Turse of Denville, New
Jersey, dear family friend, Jayne Ruble, of New Palestine, Indiana, nine grandchildren,
Dan, Sean, J.J., Dianne, Jennifer, Alison, Travis, Matthew, and Andrew, and 14 great
grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved dogs Joey, Toby, and Heidi.
Nedra retired from Bell Telephone in 1978 after 28 years of service as an Operator
Service Supervisor and enjoyed many interests including sewing, gardening, bird
watching, decorating, furniture refinishing, collecting antiques, spending time with
friends and family and taking care of her pets. She was an avid reader who passed her
love of reading on to her daughters and grandchildren. Nedra was a member of the
Telephone Pioneers and past president of the International Toastmistress Clubs Inc. She
was also a passionate doll collector and doll maker who worked with the Salvation Army
and Bell Telephone to repair and dress dolls for distribution to children at Christmas
time.
She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Huntington, Indiana for many years
and was active in the choir and Wesleyan Service Guild. Her faith and love of the Lord
were a blessing to her family and friends and those who knew her.
Her quick wit and her sense of humor made her a joy to be with and she will be greatly
missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hancock Regional
Hospital Foundation-Hospice, 801 N State Street Greenfield, Indiana 46140-1270. A
memorial service will be held at a future date.
