Nancy Sue Dodd

Nancy Sue Dodd (née Gunn), 78, of Fountaintown, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on June 2, 1948, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Nancy was the daughter of George and Mary Lou (Coyle) Gunn, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard D. Dodd, whom she married on November 29, 1969, and her sister, Georgia Hancock.

Nancy devoted her life to her family. A homemaker at heart, she worked alongside her husband on the family farm and was a supporter of the family’s contracting business. No matter how busy life became, her greatest calling was always her family. She poured her heart into raising her three sons and, in later years, found immense joy in loving, spoiling, and helping care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. To Nancy, family wasn’t simply important—it was the foundation of life.

She is survived by her sons, Craig Dodd (Juliette) of Fountaintown, Chuck Dodd (Angie) of Fountaintown, and Casey Dodd (Ceara) of Fishers; her grandchildren, William, Christian (Lauren), Elizabeth (Ayden), Nora, and Beca; her great-grandchildren, Olivia and Leo; and her siblings, Linda Carlton, Michael, Matthew, and James.

Nancy will be remembered as the rock of her family. She possessed a fiery spirit, a quick wit, and the courage to speak her mind with honesty and conviction. Underlying that strength was a heart that loved without condition. She was the person her family could always count on, offering unwavering support through life’s celebrations and its hardships alike. She loved deeply, gave generously of herself, and never stopped believing in the people she loved. Her strength was matched only by her compassion, and the legacy she leaves is one of fierce love, steadfast devotion, and a family forever shaped by her example.

Though her family mourns her passing, they find comfort in knowing that Nancy’s love, strength, and enduring spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. After years of missing the love of her life, Nancy is now at peace, reunited with Richard—a reunion for which they had both long waited.

A graveside service will be held at Asbury Cemetery, 10751 N. Asbury Road, Morristown, Indiana 46161, at 11 am on Thursday, July 23, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
