Mary Ann Kascha Bracken of Indianapolis, passed on October 26, 2026 at Methodist Hospital. She is predeceased by her children John Andrew and James Thaddeus and her brother, Gunther E. Kascha. Mary was the daughter of Gunther H. and Maria Kascha. She was born June 13, 1933 and raised in Phillipsburg, NJ. She graduated from Mount Holyoke College with a degree in Physics and was continuing her education in the Masters program at Purdue University. There, she met and married John R. Bracken on June 9, 1957.
She spent her last 6 years living with her son David, grandson Charles and future daughter-in-law Jessie Nicolazzi. Together, they listened to the Sunday afternoon radio show "Eine Deutsche Stunde" (The German Hour) where her favorite polka and German music was presented with humorous broadcasting. Her family will continue to honor her joyfully remembering The Chicken Dance as her favorite. She is so missed by her cats Carlos and Squeeky. Mary could discuss with authority most of what was going on in the world and had amazing insight (lol) on how to fix it.
She is survived by her daughter Carole Bracken Addison of Franklin Lakes, NJ and son, David Lloyd Bracken of Indianapolis, IN. She also leaves behind her 5 grandchildren: Neal Addison, Emily Addison Zak, Charles Bracken, Justin Bracken and Danielle Bracken
Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at Bell Mortuary & Crematory, 2310 W. Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46222.
