Martin Richard "Dick" Himsel

Martin Richard "Dick" Himsel , 81, Danville, passed away August 31, 2022 in Danville, IN.  He was born on April 12, 1941 in Danville, IN to his late parents Arthur Robert and Helen Marvel (Huls) Himsel. Survivors include; wife, Janet (Winings) Himsel; children, Christopher (Debra) and Richard (Dawn) Himsel, Angela (Robert) Kim; step-children, Julie (Mike), David, and Krista (Gary); 9 grandchildren; more than 70 first cousins; sister, Barbara (Ben) Edmondson; brother, Thomas (Jetta) Himsel. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Priscilla Carrington.

Dick was a graduate of New Winchester High School and attended Butler University. He was a retired Hendricks County farmer. He was awarded the 1972-73 Indiana State Junior Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Young Hoosier Farmer award. He served as a County Commissioner of Hendricks County in the mid-1980’s. He was a very active member and held positions of President and Vice President for the National Autumn Leaf Collectors Club and Hall China from 2006-present. Other memberships included the Danville Jaycees, National Autumn Leaf Collectors, Indiana Limousin Association, and Hendricks County 4-H.  He was an avid IU basketball and Colts football fan and enjoyed mowing his yard and pastures along with spending time with his family and friends.

Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 11:00am at the Danville Christian Church, 180 West Main Street, Danville, IN 46122 with Pastor John Gossett officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 2:00pm to 8:00pm at the Danville Christian Church.
