Larry Lynn Nelson , 71, of New Palestine, IN passed away December 28, 2016 at his home. He was born in Rush County, IN on April 16, 1945 to parents Willie and Opal Nelson. He is survived by his wife, Judith Marlene Nelson; son, Michael (Julie) Nelson; daughters, Barbara (Mark) Velandingham, Melissa (David) Compton; sisters, Lula Mae Kuhn, Donna Wilson; grandchildren, Ashley, Hannah, Collin, Hayden, Austin, Zach, Lindsey, Hayley; great grandchildren, Madilynn, Finn. Preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Nelson.
Larry graduated from Arlington High School of Rush County. He retired from Chrysler Corporation of New Castle after 36 years of service in 2000. He was a member of UAW 317.
Larry (Papaw) loved spending time with family, watching sports (IU basketball), and spending time on the Ohio River boating with friends, “River Rats.”
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 11:00 am at Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Shangrila Chapel, 1444 W US Hwy 52, Fountaintown, IN 46130. Officiating the service will be Pastor Carl Coffey.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 pm at the mortuary.
Burial will be at Arlington East Hill Cemetery in Arlington, IN.
