Kenneth Richard Yohe

Kenneth Richard Yohe, age 76, retired regional sales manager, music teacher, and Air Force Veteran, died at home Wednesday, August 4th, 2010 following a courageous battle with cancer. Ken will always be remembered as a great husband, father, teacher, and mentor. He shared his gift of musical talent with the world and brought joy to many through his ability to play the bagpipes and any other instrument that was placed in front of him. Additionally, his uncanny salesmanship and known by his clients for his integrity and honor. He was a loved mentor for many musicians the world over. One such example of Ken's positive influence that in 1973, he was credited with helping jazz saxophone legend Art Pepper, get back into music by giving him new instruments. Art was so grateful to Ken that he later wrote a song titled "Mr. Yohe" and recorded it on his 1975 album "Living legend". He was born February 23, 1934, in the town of York, York County, PA to the late George and Susan Yohe. Ken joined the United States Air Force in 1953 served in the Air Force Drum and Bugle Corps, during the Korean war and traveled the world entertaining the troops and distinguished visitors such as Queen then Princess Margaret. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and separated from the Air Force in 1957. Mr. Yohe graduated from American Catholic University, Washington D.C. in 1961with a Bachelor's degree in Music and a Master's degree in Music in 1963. Married Kathy Curry in 1986. He began his career as music teacher at James Madison High School in 1963, Ken is survived by his wife, Kathy, his sons, Kenny Yohe and his wife Amber, David Yohe and his wife Robin, his Step-son Jeff Curry and his wife Ramona, Step-son Don Curry and his wife Terry; five grandchildren, Easton, Jordan, Samantha, Jacob, and Adam; one brother, Frederick Arthur Yohe and his wife Ruth. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Gertrude Trudy Hare. A memorial service for Kenneth R. Yohe will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 7th, 2010 at Connection Pointe Church, Brownsburg, Indiana. Pastor Steve will officiate.
