Kenneth Weaver Corbett

November 23, 1935 — December 25, 2012

Kenneth W. Corbett, 77 , of North Vernon, Indiana died peacefully on Christmas morning, December 25, 2012 with his wife, Tammy; his daughters, Suzy and Caroline, and son-in-law, Kirk by his side.

He was born on November 23, 1935 in Progress, Pennsylvania to Howard and Martha Corbett. He served in the U.S. Air Force and on the 551st Air Police Squadron at Otis Air Force Base in Massachusetts.

Ken worked in automotive sales and as an over-the-road truck driver. Ultimately, he retired from Roadway Express in 1995 after 25 years of service and having driven more than a million safe miles.

Ken had a spirited passion for vehicle of all makes and models, new and old, and spent much of his life collecting, restoring, customizing and detailing them. He also loved motorcycles and airplanes. Ken had a vast knowledge with respect to all of them and was a master storyteller, an experience that will be greatly missed by his family.

He also loved his home State of Pennsylvania - Dutch Country - for all its beauty, family connections and fond memories. From the Appalachian Mountain range to the Amish dairy farms; the hot dogs in downtown Harrisburg and sweet treats and good eats of Lancaster County. Forever at home among those with the Pennsylvania Dutch accent.

Most of all, Ken loved his family with all his heart. He will be forever missed.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings. He is survived by his wife, Tammy, and daughters, Cindy, Barbie, Suzy (Mark) and Caroline (Kirk), his niece, Vicki, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ken is also survived by his beloved dog, Charlie, and cats Ricky and Red.

Military Funeral Honors for Ken will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 2:30pm at Vernon Cemetery, 315 South Pike St, Vernon, IN 47282.
