Joyce Mullins

Joyce Mullins, 89, passed away on April 5, 2026, in Waverly, IN. She was with family.

Joyce was born June 15, 1936 in Hilham, TN to Melva and Charles Boles.

Joyce was raised in the hills of Tennessee the child of a large family. She was one of 10 girls. Times were hard, but the realities of her early years, the love, faith and work ethic exemplified by her mother provided Joyce with all the tools she needed to live a productive and happy life.

No matter what came her way, Joyce figured out how to handle it. She always said you get to feel sorry for yourself but not for long. Then you have to pick yourself up and move on. Joyce didn’t have a lot when it came to material things but she always had enough to share with others who had less. She didn’t have much formal education and never drove but that never slowed her down. She worked hard and loved an adventure.

The love and care she gave her children and grandchildren was immeasurable. The closeness she shared with her sisters and their families lasted throughout her life time. She had many friends and if you were her friend, you were family. Many times her front porch was the meeting place. It was one of her favorite places.

Joyce’s positive attitude showed throughout her whole life. Her strength and resilience inspired everyone who got to know her. Joyce’s faith in God was unshakeable and that faith ensures that she is now resting in peace.

Joyce leaves behind one daughter, Kathy Frazier (beloved son-in-law David), Grand daughter, Gloria Olvey, Great Granddaughter's Amojean Olvey and Katherine (Maricruz) Olvey, Sister Joella (Richard) Sizemore and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son David Mullins, Melva Boles (mother), Charles Boles (father). Sister’s Christine (Hayden) Milton, Evelyn (Rayford) Lane, Geneva Boles, Vondle Watson, Lois Keene, Earline (Shirley) Cox and Twin girls.

Service will be Saturday, April 11, 2026  at 12:00 pm at Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Royster-Askin-Sandrock Chapel 2310 W. Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46222  with Pastor Yale Wall officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of service at the mortuary. Burial will be at Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana.
