Joseph Vernon Powell

Joseph Vernon Powell ,76, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016. He was born on February 3, 1940 to the late Charles F. Powell and Helen Powell (Clay). He was a graduate of Crispus Attucks HS. He later enlisted in the United States Army where he served with the 101st Airborne Division (Screaming Eagles) as a paratrooper. Joe worked for the US Postal Service retiring after 42 years of service. Joe was preceded in death by siblings Marion Powell, Delores Shaw, Charles F. Powell, Roger Powell and Richard Powell.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory sons Steven A. Powell (Erika), Keith A. Powell (Tina), daughter Terri A. Jackson (Cleadell), two sisters Charlotte Turner (Charles), Helen Williams (Joe), ex-wife Jeanette Powell, 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Joe requested that no funeral or memorial service be held after passing. Joe was loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
