Jimmie Curtis Floyd

Jimmie Curtis Floyd, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on September 20, 2026, in Indianapolis at the age of 69. He was born on June 18, 1957, in Lebanon, Indiana.

Jimmie was a man who loved to work and built his life through steady effort and dedication. He was self-employed in construction, a line of work that reflected both his skill and his strong work ethic. He also enjoyed music, fishing, working on cars, and taking care of small jobs, interests that spoke to his hands-on nature and the simple pleasures he valued.

He will be remembered by his wife, Vanessa, and by his children: sons Jason, Joshua, Jimmie Jr., and Jacob, and daughter Jessica. He is also survived by his sisters, Doris, Brenda, Teresa, and Tammy, and by his brothers, Vernon, Jerry, and Kenny. Each of them carries forward treasured memories of Jimmie and the place he held in their lives.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Melvin; his parents, Jimmy Lee and Thelma Pauline; his grandparents, Cecil and Ella Farris, and Jessie and Ida Floyd; and his grandson Cristian.

His family shares these words in his memory: “We don't stop loving them. We don't forget. We don't stop hurting. We don't simply ‘get over’ losing someone we love. We learn to carry the ache. We learn to live around the emptiness. We journey forward-the best that we can. Some days we smile, some days we break all over again. But through every day, we carry them with us in our hearts, in our memories, in all the little moments when we still wish they were here, until the day we are together again.”

Visitation will be held on October 9, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Royster-Askin-Sandrock, 2310 W Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46222. A memorial service will follow from 3:00 p.m. at the same location.

Jimmie Curtis Floyd will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, the life he built with his own hands, and the love he leaves behind in his family and friends.
