Jason Chaney , 47, of Shelbyville, Indiana passed away Friday, December 9, 2022. Jason was born August 16, 1975 in Texas, but moved at a young age to Shelbyville and remained there until he married the love of his life, Elaine (Weller), on April 29, 2022- after they began their life together in Indianapolis.
Jason’s truest joy came spending time with his children Allison, Adam, and Aiden. Jason had a true, strong love for God. He often spoke not only of God’s word, but also of the history of Christ. He spoke about the apostles as if they were his close friends. He enjoyed attending church with his family. Jason was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Indianapolis where he was looking forward to becoming a small group leader. His other interests included Star Trek, reading, and taking dance lessons. He could often be found reading several books concurrently. Jason was a master electrician for many years. Most recently he enjoyed his career with IU Health Riley Hospital. He loved to tell stories of health miracles and also retell all of the jokes he had heard on his shift. Prior to this, he showed his excellent skills at FSG and Gaylor Electric. Jason had the biggest smile and laugh. He was always trying to make others happy. He will be deeply missed by the many who love him. Jason is survived by his wife, Elaine; first love and mother of his children, Beth (Slusser) Chaney; his 3 children, Allison, Adam, and Aiden; his parents James W. and Patricia Chaney; his Grandmother by marriage, Evelyn Weller; his parents by marriage, Keith & Loanne Weller; his siblings by marriage, Dean & Jennie Weller, and Paul & Jacquelyn Weller;and his nieces and nephews, Hannah, Ella, Evan, and Ezra. Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents, George & Dorothy Chaney, and Flora J. & Charles F. Harper. His life will be celebrated on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 7:00pm at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 445 East Stop 11 Road, Indianapolis, IN 46227. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until the time of service at the church. Officiating the service will be Pastor Ryan Bailey.
