James A. Spaulding

James “Jimmy” A. Spaulding

59, of Indianapolis, passed away on June 17, 2012. James was born March 28, 1953 Paintsville, Kentucky, the son of the late James W and Thelma (Charles) Spaulding.

He graduated from Decatur Central High School in 1971.  He went on to study music at Indiana University and made a career out of record spinning in many clubs in both Indianapolis and Houston, Texas. He was known as The Big Noise of Indianapolis for over 40 years paving the way for many up and coming DJ’s.

In addition to his love for music, he thoroughly enjoyed traveling.  His position with American Trans Air provided him the opportunity to explore such places as Asia, Brazil, Canada, the Caribbean and cities all over the United States.

He is survived by his brothers, George ‘Eddie’ Spaulding (Darlene) of Camby and John ‘Dave’ Spaulding (Diana) of Indianapolis; three nieces, Amanda (Dustin) Campton of Mooresville, Ashley (Brandon) Holmes of Camby, and Tiffany Spaulding of Indianapolis; two nephews, Sonny Spaulding of Florida and Dallas Spaulding of Indianapolis; as well as a great-niece and two great nephews.  In addition to his immediate and extended family, his life was touched by many, many friends and colleagues that he maintained close relationships with throughout the years.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday June 23, 2012 at 10:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  900 E. Stop 11 Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46227.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Gregory R. Powers DEFA Fund at 429 E.
