Survivors include, wife, Robin Elaine Barker, sons, James (Hope) Barker III, Shannon Barker; daughters, Nina (Chad) Thomas, Elisabeth Barker; sister, Janice Sparks; brothers, William Barker, Matt (Kim) Barker; 7 grandchildren.

Preceded in death by, parents, James H Barker Sr. & Beverly Hutchinson; grandparents, William & Virginia Jordan; adopted brother William Liberty; granddaughters, Samayah & Zenobia Barker.

James was a United States Air Force Veteran, retired pastor and Boston Scientific Employee who loved to fish, work on his garden, collect antiques, play music, and preach, but more than anything James loved to just be with people. Family, friends, and church family, no matter the person he loved to make others laugh. He was a member of the licensed minister with Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ & Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ.

Services will be Monday, February 10, 2025, at 12:00PM at Westside Apostolic Pentecostal Church, 1540 W Ohio St, Indianapolis, IN 46222, Viewing will be from 10:00AM until the time of service at the church. Officiating will be Pastor Tony Oliver. Burial at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville, IN.
