Hollace “Dene” Chandler , 74, passed away peacefully of natural causes on April 15, 2014 in Greenwood, Indiana after spending his final days in the company of his family and friends.
Dene was born in Bloomington, Indiana on April 7, 1940. He graduated from Bloomington High School and married his high school sweetheart Shirley (Hobbs) Chandler on June 27, 1959.
Throughout his life, Dene was a successful businessman, managing and buying for multiple drug stores and eventually pursuing his dream to purchase a hardware store in New Palestine, Indiana. He owned and operated the New Palestine Hardware store for 28 years. He and his wife currently reside in New Palestine, where Dene has been a beloved member of the community.
Dene enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He also enjoyed the company of his K9 companions and rooting for the Hoosiers.
Dene is survived by Shirley Chandler, his loving wife of 54 years; his children Tina & Dave Crosby and Gina Sexton; his grandchildren Holly & Ross Nordenberg and Stacey Crosby; and his sibling, Arleen O’Mullane, Dannie Chandler, Warren Johnson, Jack Johnson, and Tyler Johnson.
Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 18, 2014 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Shangrila Chapel, Fountaintown. Online condolences can be made at www.bellmortuary.com
