Floyd E. (Fuzzy) Wilson

On Friday morning, January 1, 2016, in Indianapolis, Floyd E. “Fuzzy” Wilson, 85, quietly passed from this life to his eternal life. Fuzzy is survived by his brother, Forest of Wingate, his children, Larry Wilson (Madonna Wilson) of Indianapolis and Patty Burke (Bill Burke) of Gulf Breeze, FL and his grandchildren, Jenna, Eric and Ryan Burke.

Fuzzy was born on March 24, 1930 in Attica, Indiana, to Wiley Walker Wilson and Lola Wilson. Fuzzy graduated from Attica High School then served in the U.S. Army for six years and was a veteran of the Korean War. Fuzzy attended Butler University on the G.I. Bill where he graduated Summa Cum Laude majoring in Journalism and German. Fuzzy worked for Amoco Chemicals for most of his professional career in Seymour and retired from civil service from the Naval Training Center in Orlando, Florida.

Fuzzy and Betty raised their children in Seymour before relocating to central Florida in 1979. They lived in the Orlando area for 27 years before returning to Indianapolis in 2006, to be near family.

Fuzzy was an avid golfer and recorded five holes in one and a club championship at Seymour Country Club. Fuzzy served as a Seymour City Councilman and was active in Republican politics. In his 50’s, Fuzzy took up marathon running and was a champion runner in his age class. He ran in marathons all over the United States, including the Boston and New York marathons. Last, but not least, Fuzzy loved his dogs, from Ponzer to Ginger, each were very special to him.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at St. Jude’s Catholic Church at 5353 McFarland Rd., Indianapolis.

Interment will be at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Attica.
