Duane Hood

Duane Oscar “Duke” Hood 87, Indianapolis, passed away May 9, 2025. Duane was born October 19,1937 to the late Oscar and Sallie Hood. He graduated from Manual High School in 1956. He was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Army in 1961. Duane retired from Chase Mortgage after 46 years in the finance and mortgage business. Duane was married for 53 wonderful years to Eileen Marie (Hartman) Hood who passed in 2015.

Duane is survived by his two sons Todd (Julie) and Scott, loving daughter-in-law and grandson Matthew. He is also survived by sisters, Vivian Ageline (Hood) Kirk , Sue Pearl (Hood) Hayward, Iva Mae (Hood), Wanda Louise Hood sister and brother, Bejamin L. Hood. Duane was blessed with a wonderful family full of many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Duane was preceded in death by his grandson Daniel Todd Hood, Lillian Runelle (Hood) Polance sister, Mary Juanita (Hood) Stockton sister.

Duane’s wishes were for a grave side memorial service for close friends and family. This service will be held at St. John Lutheran Cemetery (7500 E. Troy Avenue, Indianapolis, IN) at 11:00 AM on June 21, 2025.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Duane’s memory to either Veterans of Foreign Wars or St. John Lutheran Church.
