Charles (Chuck) Edward Tunnah of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home of an apparent heart attack on July 5, 2016. His remains were cremated at Bell Mortuary & Crematory in Indianapolis.

Chuck was born in Indianapolis to Joseph H. Tunnah and Garnett (Stapleton) Tunnah on June 10, 1941. He graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis in 1959 where he appeared in several stage musicals and sang in the school's A capella Choir. He was also a member of the exclusive Madrigal Singers.

During his high school years, he sang with a vocal group named the Aristocats, later known as the Reflections, who had two records released on Tigre and Laurie Records in 1964. Chuck was responsible for developing the vocal bass line for one of the songs that became a Midwestern regional hit, outranking the Beatles,for several weeks on Chicago's WLS radio station's top 40.


Chuck was a graduate of the Army's Officer Candidate School and a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served in Japan rising to First Lieutenant before an assignment in the Adjutant
General's Office in Saigon, took him to Vietnam. During the attack on the U.S. Embassy during the Tet Offensive in January of 1968, he was wounded and repatriated home to recover before being honorably discharged.


For many years he performed around Indianapolis with an army buddy in a duo called Salt & Pepper.


In April of 1991, Chuck attended the Indiana Technical College in Indianapolis, receiving his certificate as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).


Chuck loved playing golf, enjoyed ballroom dancing, playing board and card games such as Bridge. He loved music of all kinds, from Classical to Country and Western, and everything in
between.

Wife: Wanda L. Johnson, married from 1961 to 1962
Wife: Madonna L. Ogle, married from 1973 to 1984
Life Partner: Kathryn West, since 1988
Son: Christopher E. Tunnah, husband of K. LeAnn (Sullivan) Tunnah of Fairfield, Ohio
Sister: JoAnn Sutterfield of Indianapolis
Brother: Phillip A. Tunnah of Indianapolis
And several nephews


Chuck was pre-deceased by his parents, niece, Rhoda Sutterfield-Marion, and nephew Joesph
A. Jacobs.
