Charlene Kay Richmond

August 6, 1943 — January 12, 2024

Greenfield

Charlene Kay Richmond of Greenfield, IN left her earthly body after 80 years on Friday, January 12, 2024 due to pneumonia.

Charlene was a Leo and always a fighter.  Charlene battled two forms of cancer and vascular dementia.  No matter how sick she was, she was always determined.  When anyone else would have broken, Charlene stayed strong.  There was no quit in her.  Through her we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like.   Just because she is no longer here does not mean she lost her fight.  It just means she's in a new arena.  Charlene's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life.  She loved talking to her family and friends every day, especially Carolyn and Marilyn.  As her dementia was worsening, she enjoyed reminiscing more about the good old days more than ever.  Charlene loved birdwatching, flowers and country living.

Charlene was born in New Palestine and graduated from New Palestine High School in 1961.  She worked at Western Electric until they closed.  She worked for other factories, started her own business, and in her final years worked as a home health aide until her retirement.

Charlene was preceded in death by daughter Loretta, son-in-law Ted, parents Henry and Dorothy and siblings Betty Jean, Joann, and Kathy.

Charlene is survived by her daughter Vicki LaFavers (Christian Miller).  Her other survivors include her sisters Carolyn Caughey and Marilyn (Wilburn) Trotter and brothers William (Terri) Ostermyer and James (Beverly) Ostermyer.  Also, her grandchildren Jacob (Jamie) Richmond, Nicole Cox, Teddea Nichols, and Zachary (Courtney) LaFavers.   As well as her great grandchildren Hunter Rubio, Ianna Nichols, Elijah VanAlst and Evelynn LaFavers.  As well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
