Audrey Ruth (Amos) Monaghan

Audrey Ruth Amos Monaghan , 87, of Plainfield passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014. She was born in Indianapolis on March 9th, 1927 to Lowell E Amos and stepmother Virginia Hauke Amos.  Audrey graduated from Decatur Central High School in 1944 and enjoyed being a homemaker, raising her six children.  She was a proud member of the Saint Cecilia Women’s Choir of Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Indianapolis.  She worked for the US Federal Probation office for 22 years, retiring in 1989.  Audrey resided in Plainfield for over 40 years.

Audrey was preceded in death by three brothers, Don, Hugh and Russell Amos and a son, Timothy J. Monaghan.  She is survived by two sisters, Virginia Franzke of Port Washington, Wisconsin and Carol Dugen of Scottsburg, Indiana.  Survivors include two daughters, Frances Monaghan Ryan (Jerry) and Catherine Monaghan Bailey, both of Indianapolis, as well as three sons, Patrick Monaghan (Robin) of Carmel, Indiana, Michael Monaghan (Beth) of Indianapolis, Stephen Monaghan (Stephanie) of Clayton, and daughter-in-law Jennifer Thornberry Monaghan of West Liberty, Kentucky. Audrey had 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Prayer Services will be on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 7:30pm at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, 106 Shaw Street, Plainfield, IN with visitation from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the mortuary.

The family would prefer no flowers for the visitation and would request a   contribution may be made to Saint Susanna Catholic Church of Plainfield, Indiana.
