Antonio Tony Salas age 67 of Fishers, IN, formerly of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away June 20, 2010 after a brave and hard fought battle with Mesothelioma. Tony was born June 13, 1943 in Laredo, TX. Tony is survived by two daughters Sylvia Jack Howard of Fishers, IN and Melinda Pedro Barajas of Mesa, AZ; 5 grandchildren Ashley Salas, Anthony Thornton, Shelby Thornton, Jackson Howard and Cameron Howard; 3 great-grandchildren Jaiden Thornton, Zachary Eberle, Xavier Mosqueda; two brothers Poncho Salas of Laredo, TX and Carlos Salas of Battle Creek, MI and a very dear brother-in-law Napoleon Hernandez of Laredo, TX. Preceded in death by his parents Jose and Elena Salas; 2 sisters Helena Vasquez and Socorro Hernandez. Tony died peacefully at home with his daughters, his life long best friend Sandra Salas Jones and his loving dog Obi by his side. Tony was a retired forman of Luria Brothers and owner/operator of Tony's Tees. He was an avid Nascar fan and a dedicated father, grandfather and friend. He took great pride in his Latin American Heritage and enjoyed many years as a member of LULAC. Tony put his heart and soul in everything he did. Even after death he chose to continue to fight the battle of this incurable disease; he donated his body to science so that research may be used in hopes of finding a cure for Mesothelioma. A celebration of his life will take place on Monday June 28, 2010. In lieu of flowers, Tony requested that memorial contributions be made to The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation.
