Ruth Ann Rayl passed away on June 10, 2016, just shy of her 88th birthday.  She was born in Greencastle, Indiana in Putnam County on June 13th, 1928.  She lived in Greencastle, Crawfordsville, Kokomo and Indianapolis.

She attended Indiana University, worked as an administrative assistant at Haworth High School in Kokomo, and was a member of Tri Kappa Sorority.

Ruth loved the Lord and was very active with her beloved husband, Donavon, in the church.  He preceded her in death, after a wonderful marriage of 58 years.  Their favorite ministry at Center Community Church was calling on new believers and shepherding them in their walk with the Lord.

She had a wonderful and zany sense of humor, and always was able to make others laugh.  Her two favorite television shows were M.A.S.H. and the Carol Burnett show.

Ruth is survived by her two children, Kathryn L. Rayl, and Stephen B. Rayl (wife, Sally), her three grandchildren: Brian C. Rayl (wife, Elizabeth), Craig M. Rayl (wife, Erica) and Allison K. Rayl (fiancé, Nicholas E. Parr), and four great grandchildren (Carson, Jack, Anniston, and John), all of whom she loved dearly and who will miss her.  The grandchildren will always remember playing Skip Bo with their grandmother and grandfather and going to Culver’s.

Words cannot express the gratitude felt by Ruth’s family for her nurses and caregivers at Park Square Manor, ManorCare at Prestwick, Brownsburg Meadows and Heart to Heart Hospice.  They were all angels to her.

A private graveside service will be held for family and friends.

Arrangements are being handled by Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Royster-Askin-Sandrock Chapel, 2310 W Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Center Community Church or Heart to Heart hospice.
