Rita Helen (Buennagel) Hannefey

Rita Hargrove, Heitz, Buennagel, Hannefey, 83, of Fountaintown, IN, passed away March 24, 2015, in Indianapolis.

In Rita's early life her mother Loretta Hargrove passed at age 26, Rita was 3 months old.  She was then given to her grandmother and Uncle Willy.  They took care of her until she was age 3.  She was then adopted by "Heitzie" and "Honey" Heitz of New Marion,IN.  Honey and Heitzie were nicknames she gave them.  Rita stayed with them until her father Heitzie passed away.  At age 12 she was adopted once again by Edgar and Mary Buennagel of Irvington,IN.  Rita worked at Holy Spirit rectory under Rev. Frances Early for a number of years with her mother Mary.  She and her mom also worked at Indiana Bell.   She was a telephone operator.  While working there she met and married Eugene Hannefey.  Rita loved baking and knitting.  She also enjoyed going to Travel Log meetings with friends.  She was a devoted wife and mother.  She has five children..Patty Liford (Husband John), Mike (wife Pam), John, Mary Jenkins (husband Rick), and Robert (wife Marcy).  Rita has six grandchildren,  Allison, Andrew, Jacob, Emma, Laura and Emily.  Rita has 2 great grandchildren Peyton and Parker.

Services will be on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:00am at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 7243 E. 10th St. Indianapolis, with the Rev. Msgr. Paul D. Koetter Officiating.  Visitation will be from 9 am until time of service at the church.

Burial will be in Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis.

Arrangements handled by Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Shangrila Chapel.
