Lowell Gene Metz

December 23, 1931 ~ June 29, 2016 (age 84) 84 Years Old


Lowell Gene Metz, 84, of Shelbyville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 29th 2016 at Community Hospital in Greenwood, Indiana.  Born in Shelbyville, Indiana, to Morris and Mabel Metz on December 23rd 1931, he lived most of his life in Shelbyville, Indiana.

Lowell was a kind, gentle Christian man who enjoyed and lived his life with great relish.  He was forgiving, extremely loving, non-judgmental and humble to a fault. He was a patriot who served his country proudly as a member of the United States Air Force.  He has also served as a Boy Scout Troop Master.  Lowell was a proud 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Shelby Shifters Car Club. 

He labored for decades as a Design Engineer, with most of the time being spent at Egenolf Engineering.  In his spare time he enjoyed building classic cars, wood working, traveling, and watching classic Wild West television.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 20 years, Joyce Evangeline and his Daughter Joni Susanne Braiman (Seth) and son Kurt Edmund Metz, also by his brother Kenneth Metz (Ruby) of Shelbyville, Indiana and daughter-in-law Sharon Metz of Greenwood, Indiana.  He also cherished his step children Earl, Douglas, and Matthew Abrams of Indianapolis, Indiana. He enjoyed grandchildren Cody and Jason Metz, as well as his step grandchildren Daniel Braiman, Willem and Maximus Abrams, and E.J. Dickerson. His final blessing was great grandchildren Danielle, Makayla, Nathen and Jacob Metz and Step great grandchildren Guenwhyvar and Gavin Braiman

Lowell was preceded in death by his mother Mabel and father Morris Metz, his first wife Joanne and his eldest son Kim Michael Metz.  They now celebrate life together in the great mystery beyond.

Please Join Lowell's family in Celebrating his Life.  This Celebration will be held on July 30, 2016 at Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Shangrila Chapel, 1444 West US Hwy 52, Fountaintown, Indiana between the hours of 1:00pm and 5:00pm.
